Dispensing Assistant / Dispenser (Part-Time – 27.5 hours per week)

We are looking for a qualified and motivated Dispenser or Dispensing Assistant to join our friendly and supportive GP practice team.
This is an excellent opportunity to work within a busy rural dispensary, supporting our GPs and wider team to deliver high-quality primary care services. We dispense to approximately 97% of our patient population, making this a key role within the practice.
About the Role
You will work as part of our dispensary team to ensure the safe and efficient management of prescriptions and medications, while providing excellent patient care and service.
Key Responsibilities
Your duties will include (but are not limited to):
- Preparing and dispensing prescriptions accurately
- Collecting prescription charges and checking exemption status
- Handling cash and completing banking procedures
- Maintaining effective stock control to ensure continuity of supply and minimise waste
- Responding to patient queries in a professional and helpful manner
- Ensuring medications are received, stored, and handled correctly in line with manufacturer guidelines
- Maintaining accurate dispensing records
- Supporting the Dispensary Manager with additional duties as required
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Holds a recognised dispensing qualification (NVQ Level 2 or equivalent)
- Is computer literate
- Has a strong customer-focused approach
- Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Works well as part of a team in a busy environment

- Start date: Ideally August (earlier interviews available)
- Hours: 27.5 per week
- Contract: Permanent
